  - IcelandThis country is breathtakingly beautiful. I drove around the entire country from Reykjavik, around the Golden Circle, and continuing onto the Ring Road. My favorite sections were the South West, the South and the East. 1600+ miles of driving, 100+ miles of hiking, dozens of waterfalls, many hot springs, and very friendly people. Everything is pretty expensive there, but other than that, it is by far one of my favorites.

      - SayulitaThe last time I went to Sayulita was during a five-day trip at the end of January 2020 for my girlfriend’s 29th birthday surprise. It was epic for the short time we were there. It is definitely a town that I could get behind as it is very festive. The next time I have planned to go to Sayulita is early January of 2021 for an entire month. Funny enough, the last time I was in a commercial airport was that trip I mentioned above. I’ve never gone an entire year only stepping into a commercial airport once. Oh, PDX airport, and flying around in general, how I miss thee!!

I came here for the TBEX conference and was surprised with how wonderful this little town is in the Finger Lakes area – a much-desired change to the “Big City.”.

  - ChileMy time in Chile was spent enjoying walking around Santiago, enjoying the beaches/nightlife/new years in Valparaiso, to getting as far south as I’ve ever been to enjoy the gorgeous views of Patagonia. Enjoyed a four day backpacking trip around the W of Torres Del Paine. Very friendly locals, good exchange rate from the US, and delicious wine and coffee everywhere I went. My first experience of South America and I was blown away by how great it was. Would go back again in a heart beat.

Hi! I’m Jason and this is some info about me, Jason Gill, the writer of this website, Jason Gets Around.

I’m a Portland-based world traveler. I’ve been to over 38 countries so far with many more to go! The majority of my travels that I’ve written about are done using points and miles that I’ve accrued from airlines using some travel hacking tricks I’ve picked up along the way. I figured since I’ve been able to do so much with them, that I should share some of that info with my readers!

I have been writing my adventures for a number of years now. I’m the writer of this site, Jason Gets Around, since I’m the Jason actually getting around places. I’m a world- traveler, a high-velocity adventurer chaser, an affable short storyteller, an amateur kickball player, a pool shark, a software engineer, a licensed pilot, and so much more.

This site is a collection of my best trips, tips, and tricks of traveling the globe while sharing some of my personal adventures along the way. I’m making my best effort of sharing information on the places I’ve been and how I made those travels happen so you can do the same!
